Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back, after what I hope was a very relaxing and peaceful vacation. I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to all of our new children and their families. I trust that you will enjoy a long and successful relationship with the community of Ravenstone. We are all settling in and enjoying the first few days with your children and the sun is shining!!
1. GOLDEN AWARDS: The recipients for last term’s Golden Awards for consistently excellent work and behaviour were as follows:

2. FRIDAY ASSEMBLIES: Every Friday 10:00-10:15 we hold our worksharing/celebration assemblies. All parents are invited to attend and whilst you may not necessarily see your child’s work you will see some from her/his class. We will be delighted to see you, and so will your children! Come along. The timetable for this term is as follows:
(Reception may not be participating until all children have settled. Look out for the notices by the classes)

3. PTA: We are exceedingly fortunate to have a very active, supportive and enthusiastic PTA. This year’s AGM is on Wednesday 27th September at 7:00pm. Please come along and get involved. You will enjoy yourself and it will benefit all members of the school community.
4. OWARE CHAMPIONSHIP 05/06: 156 children entered the annual Oware competition held at the end of last term and organised by Jane Hampson. I am pleased to report that the overall champion was Sade A(now Y5) who narrowly defeated Zoe D(now Y4) in a close final. The year winners were as follows: Y2 Kamal O, Y3 Zoe D, Y4 Sade A, Y5 Jamal M, Y6 Chante W.
5. CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 05/06: Over 90 children entered the annual chess competition organised by Ewa Stevens. The overall champion was Alexander C(Y6) again, who defeated Isaac V(Y5). The year winners were as follows: Y2 Orlando B, Y3 Thomas C, Y4 Sade A, Y5 Isaac V, Y6 Alexander C. Sabila C was Best Girl Player.
6. SUMMER SHOW:THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY: As you may be aware, last year’s summer show was filmed and DVDs will shortly be available to order.
7. DOGS/SMOKING: I would like to remind all parents that dogs are not allowed in the playground at any time and obviously smoking is not permitted on the premises at all.
8. DISRICT FOOTBALL: Good luck to Billy Mand James M (Y6) who are taking part in the final district football trial tomorrow.
9. SOUTH LONDON CHOIR: A reminder to all parents/friends of Ravenstone that the (adult) South London Community Choir meets in the Lower hall every Tuesday 7:30-9:30pm. Come along, have a sing and enjoy yourselves.
10. PLEASE TALK TO US….We are here to help and we all want exactly the same as you: The very best possible education and range of educational opportunities for all of your children. If you have any worries or queries please arrange to talk to your child’s class teacher or talk to me or Max Furnell (Deputy Head) or Mary Hargreaves (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator). I am usually around in the playground at the beginning and end of the day or please call to make an appointment.
